where the day took us

With no definite plans it's fun to see where the day takes us...Today we jumped in the car and heading to Port Angeles. There are so many places we have yet to explore on this side of the water! What better time then on a day when Sebastian is off of school and the weather is as beautiful as it is. 

We drove down to the heart of Port Angeles. It was a great place to walk around with many shops and restaurants. We spent time taking it all in and browsing some of the little shops. The book store was our favorite and the one place we ended up spending way too much time in! I mean. Come on, how cool is that wall! And the hats! Harry Potter and a not too thrilled Viking man :) 

It ended up to be a quick trip due to the fact that Bobby had work later in the day, which didn't matter because we enjoyed the time we had together and ended up stumbling across the visitor center where an older women told us about lots more places to visit and explore in the future! 

There are so many beaches and camping areas not only in Port Angeles but all along the drive to get there. We plan to take many more mini trips and even try to visit the Olympic Mountains. Since we are hoping to buy our first home this summer we want to take advantage of living on this side of the water. Good times will definitely be had! All in all, days like today make me so happy to be alive and thankful for this beautiful world we live in.

Viking Fest

Poulsbo is a viking town. Although I don't know too much about the history, I do know that the Poulsbo community has a good time during Viking Fest weekend. Downtown Poulsbo is full to the brim with people from all over who come to enjoy the festivities, good food and fun entertainment. It's so fun! This year was pretty special due to the fact that Sebastian friend Sienna was crowned to be one of the Miss Viking Princesses. There's a sea of people typically walking around eating corn on the cob or a towering plate of Viking Chips (thinly sliced deep friend potato chips!), or an elephant or two.

Occasionally you'll come across a viking passing by or a lady in traditional women's viking attire. Some of them have a tent set up with things reenacting how the vikings used to live. The way they cooked or the tools they used, it's fun hearing them talk as if they were still living back in those days. Most of them having viking blood running through their veins and hold the traditions dear to their hearts. I love that! And even though I like to think I'm an expert on the whole viking thing since I'm a binge watcher of the show The Vikings, I don't think I can actually get away with it.

See what I mean, vikings this way they come! So many families enjoying themselves and so many four legged furry friends too. I met two basset hounds that stole my heart. Meet Macy & Lacy.

At some point we gathered around the pavilion and to see Sienna, Sebastian's friend go through some kind of Miss Viking tradition/ritual where they had to take a spoon full of some kind of funky fish thing. I know. Honestly, I didn't quite fully understand the meaning or why they made these little girls do such a thing but they did and I was able to get an amazing shot of Sienna's grossed out face!!
It was epic and such a perfect photo to show her once she is older. Don't worry she ended up spitting it out, it was that awful.

Of course, we had to sneak up to say hello to Sienna and steal a photo with her. She is naturally a very busy lady with being a princess and all!

Our Viking Fest fun ended with some fun carnival rides with lots of laughs and too much spinning if you ask me! Until next year.

georgetown stylized photoshoot

A few weeks ago I was asked by one of my good friends, a photographer, to help style a photoshoot. Of course I said yes! Ashley and her husband Ross are a cute little team that specialize in wedding photography. They wanted to do something a little more fun and on the creative side, which I'm all about! They chose the location and the models and I came along to style the model's hair and do her makeup plus tag along to get some photography pointers. We went down to Georgetown, a neighborhood in Seattle. I had never been so I was excited to have a look around. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised to realize that Georgetown is actually a really interesting place full of really unique things to see.

The models were an adorable young couple who were really open to having fun. We started shooting at the Georgetown Trailer Park Mall. If you've never been, you must! It's full of colorful trailers transformed into vintaged boutiques. The displays are thought out and breathtaking. It's so easy for a photographer to get really great shots with all the unique props and vivid backdrops. Not to mention, the owners of the these little vintage trailers were just awesome people who let us use some of what they had in their displays as props! So fun!

How cute did these turn out! Love it. Ashley & Ross were nice enough to take a few of me while we were walking around. Of course I had a bit of fun with some hula hoops towards the end of our time. What?! I couldn't help myself.

Portland

It's a been a whirlwind of a week for me and I am just now sitting down to share some photos of our trip to Portland. We went earlier this week and stayed two days one night. We left bright an early on Monday and got to Portland around 10am. Our first stop was Voodoo Doughnuts. It's morning and donuts were calling our names. We loved the big pink building and Sebastian got a kick out of watching the donut display going around in a circle. Sebastian picked a simple powdered donut, Bobby picked a donut coated with M&M's and I a maple bar. The boys devoured their donuts and I ate about 1/2 and then passed the rest to Bobby to finished. Mine was much too sweet for me. Over all though it was a fun experience and we can now say we've been to the famous Voodoo!

Our next stop was Powell's City of Books. What a glorious world of books! We got lost in them all. Sebastian was in heaven and so was I. Even Bobby found a whole section dedicated to cars which usually doesn't happen. I loved seeing Sebastian surrounded by books! We ended up running out of time in the car meter with not even realizing and Bobby and to quickly run to add more. Good thing we were parked close! If you haven't been to this book store well, you must go next time your in Portland. The building is huge and honestly I lost count with how many floors there were. Each floor/room was color coded for each theme. My favorite was all the fun cookbooks! So many beautiful looking covers and potentials foods to cook and bake!

Part one of our trip was so much fun. We love adventuring around, discovering new places and things. I'll share some more photos soon!
