on George the raccoon...

HI.
Today was grand.
Let me start out with saying that my hubby saved and rescued a baby raccoon last night! Last night he was headed over late at night to help one of his close friends with their car when he noticed a baby raccoon wandering around our driveway heading toward the road. Bobby was instantly scared for the little guys life and so he made a safe home inside a box outside. After calling Aunt Cheryl for advise, after calling the police station to see what animal control could do, after calling two rehab centers it all turned out to be too late and no one would be any help. He used a shovel and gently set it in the box (I know shovel might sound barbaric but unfortunately it's the safe thing to do...you never know). I really didn't know about all this because I already had fallen asleep for the night and was only aware of our little pal this morning. Meet George.
Cutest little thing ever. He was pretty frightened but I don't blame him. We had no idea what to feed him and after a few tries like milk & bananas nothing really tickled his fancy. We were some what nervous as to what to do with him since no one was getting back to us on a Sunday but we had already had plans so we set out for the day and left him home. As soon as we got to mom & dad's house Bobby received a call from a lady who is a raccoon "expert" at a wildlife rehabilitation. After talking to her she assured us that if we didn't bring him in to her today that he might not survive another day!!! We couldn't have that so Bobby drove all the way back home, scooped him up and drove him out to the wildlife clinic. Bobby found out the George was only four weeks old and George is really a boy (I just had a feeling, what can I say!). And he was a little dehydrated but nothing serious. The lady said that if he wouldn't of gotten some formula in his little belly soon that he probably wouldn't of lived another night. Phew! I am so happy the George is in good hands & safe.

on my bridal shower...

We're finally back to my dad's house after such a beautiful time and now that the big day is over I can share little glimpses of the past few days...

Julee hosted a lovely little shower last Thursday with a group of gals that mean the most to me here in Seattle. They are the gang of girls that I worked with when I was younger at Great Harvest, the group that became a family to me.
Julee & Tanya really out did themselves. Julee's house was decorated with lots of purple colored things. So much fun!

The main feature of the night was the purple mashed potatoes! Ha. I was cracking up when I laid eyes on this. SO perfect. And so hard to find. The girls told me that they had the hardest time finding it anywhere and after calling around finally found some down by Pike Place. Tanya scooting on down and picked up a bundle.
They were a hit and especially with the huge variety of cool toppings. I think I just about put all them on my mashed :)
Julee tried a new recipe that she picked up from good 'ol Paula Deen. Yummy purple coleslaw. It was delcious. My favorite part of it was that it wasn't mayo based but instead the base was pepper jelly. How fun is that?!
All the girls got us some great gifts. Some gift cards to Amazon and Lisa got us a great sign to hang up at home reading "Happily Ever After". I cannot wait to display that lovie at home.
Bobby's mom & sisters got us a box full of engraved Champagne flutes for toasting and for all the guest to take home for mementos.
Julee got me the coolest gift by far. Just so totally me! A GLEE paper weight :) You can tell by my face how excited I was after unwrapping this gem. Speaking of Glee...Season finale on Tuesday. Get ready Julee & Glen!
Once again thank you to Julee & Glen and all the girls for getting together and creating more lovely memories for me to remember for the rest of my days to come.

on a concert...

Last night Bobby and I went to see Rise Against
Show started at 7pm. However, we usually skip the first band because most the time they suck. Instead we had dinner. We headed to the Electric Factory and got there right in time to see Bad Religion who has been touring with Rise Against. I love Bad Religion. They've been around for a long time and so they are really just a bunch of old dudes. They stood there making fun of their "oldness" the whole night. And even though back in the 80's they were on the top, like Rise Against now, in the punk rock nation they don't care because they are in it for their adoration of their music and the love of their fans. You have to respect that.
If you ask me what my favorite punk rock band is, well it's Rise Against. Their lyrics are something they are very passionate about. They aren't after fame and fortune, they want to make a difference every time you hear them preform. They really played a great set last night and both Bobby and I really enjoyed their performance. We left with our ears ringing, bodies aching and well, me a little buzzed because yes, I had a few drinks :)
Here are some of my favorite songs that they played last night...
