through my lens

I love capturing stitches in time with my lens. The two things that come so easy to me when I shoot are people and food. This week has been a crazy one but now that I have had the time to look back on all the moments, they are treasured. So many of them. And I am thankful. For each and every one. All the interactions with people from all walks of life. People who come to me and my co-workers to make them beautiful. I get to capture those first moments of them leaving the salon and feeling like a million bucks. I mean just look at them! Beaming.

To be around a group of people that are doing just what I am and who are reveling from the same benefits of seeing their clients leaving feeling like a new person, to most even their lives are changed. If even for just those first three winks in the mirror. It's a beautiful thing.

I'm constantly feeling lucky to be a part of the village of creative people who I see five days a week. So many exciting things happening in the next few weeks and also lots of ideas for the future to insure that the evolution of our industry is forever growing.

Take those moments and capture them. And don't let go.

port gamble in photos...

Yesterday we took a day trip to Port Gamble. It's a sweet fancy little town with a wonderful strip of shops to browse. It was quite a rainy day but we kept an eye on the clouds and once they broke we all jumped into the car and drove. Port Gamble is really only fifteen minutes away from us so we got there quick giving us extra time outside before the rain started again. The Historic Museum is interesting and the boys loved seeing all the different artifacts. My favorite part of our trip was the General Store within the town. It's AMAZING. So much to see, from whimsical decor, to a lovely coffee shop inside, there's even a little restaurant along side the General Store that was remodeled this past winter. However, the best part of the store was that it had a fascinating marine museum full of fossils and skeletons of so many marine animals. We spend the most time walking around seeing all that was displayed on the second floor of the store.

Everything was so eye-catching in this little store. It's amazing how much they had displayed in such small space and in a very artistic way. It made me giddy walking about see all unique things. I'll be coming back to buy this beautiful old-school tea pot turned light fixture for our future home. I must have it in my kitchen! Even the way the candy was set out was fun! It reminded me of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when he goes into the candy store to buy his candy bar. Everything in gigantic glass jars and the old fashion registered tied it all together.

If you ever spend the day on our side of the water take a quick drive to Port Gamble even if all you do is go to the General Store. It's so worth it! Bobby and I plan to come back on our next date night to try out the restaurant.

on the waterfront...

Hello from sunny Pouslbo Washington! Since we celebrated Christmas last night we spend the morning playing with all our gifts and then took a stroll to downtown Poulsbo where it was quiet as it will ever be. It was still nice to walk around the waterfront and snap some photos with my new Diana lens that my mom gifted me with. We saw a group of jelly fish just floating right next to the dock! It was so amazing to see them so close to us.

Tonight we'll be popping some popcorn and cuddling on the couch to watch our new movie-- Despicable Me. Hope you all are having a very merry Christmas evening!

xoxo.

on weekend in the pocono mountains...

This weekend we were invited to a get together up in the Pocono Mountains where Bobby's cousin, Courtney's boyfriend has a beautiful house. We brought our tent and camped out in their front yard last night. It was magical to say the least. The house reminded me of the house I grew up in and the woods reminded me of where I want my future home to be. I absolutely loved laying in my tent and listening to the sounds of nature as the lights in the sky fade.

The outdoors inspire me. Revived. Refreshed. Restored.

on an adventure...

It really proves that yesterday was a very fun day! Last night I decided to cuddle with Sebastian in bed until he fell asleep and then get right out and stay up. Watch some movies, eat popcorn & blog. But hey, noooooo. I fell asleep :) Sebastian can be such a cuddle bug that I must of passed out. I'm not surprised because we spend most the day outside on an adventure...
If this isn't love, I don't know what is. I love how much his eyes smile!
Curtis Arboretum.
Looking into the pond we could see large Koi fish, turtles of all sizes, tadpoles & huge toads!
I can't wait for the summer to have fun catching froggies.
We had to blow on every dandelion in sight!
We climbed every tree that we could.
Look how tiny Sebastian looks compared to those big trees!
 We climbed some more...
 Mom even climbed up.
In the end we Sebastian made some college friends who attend the college down the street and that were having some fun in the sun. The girls thought he was adorable were as the guy that he was fearless as they watched him run around and climb trees. They gave him a squirt gun and I thanked them (sarcastically). They gave him silly string, I thanked them again (but really didn't mean it this time). And they gave him a juice box even though he had water. It never ceases to amaze me how Sebastian makes friends EVERYWHERE. He see's a group and he just charms them and soon we are on our way home with him in the back seat squirting me with water...Sigh. Curtis Arboretum is probably my favorite place to visit on nice days. There's no playground, just grass and trees. Just nature. And in the end we have a better time there than at any playground around. He is such a boy and I love it so much. Just seeing his face light up every time he throws a rock in the water makes my heart swell. It's the simple things most of the time that can get you the most pleasure.

Well, I'm off to make a yummy omelet for my soon to be hubby who is just getting home from work after working all night. Then a nice stroll down the street to our Farmer's Market that opens back up today! Hooray for Sunday family fun day :)
