Who I am

I am...

+ getting more and more excited to be a homeowner. We've been (well, when I say "we" I mean me!) picking out paint for most of the house. The kitchen, dining room and living room are an open style concept so picking paint wasn't as easy as I imagined. But I think we found a pair that are going to look fantastic. Of course Sebastian had no trouble at all picking a color for his bedroom. Because we're cool like that and totally let him peruse the wall of colors and choose for himself. Why not! So, that's all said and done. Our room is all decided on as well. Which, to be honest, was a surprise because I totally thought Bobby and I were going to have trouble coming to an understanding. No. It was way easier than the main part of the house. There's also another bedroom that's going to be made into a guest bedroom, a laundry room, another spare bedroom downstairs, as well as the family room. But we aren't going to venture into doing all of that just yet. Just the main parts for now. Let's not get too crazy!! Furniture has been a different story. Furniture scares me. It's an investment because have you seen what couches are going for nowadays?? Holy Smokes. And it can be a little daunting to make such a purchase with the understanding that it has to stay. For a long time. Like, no takey backsies. It's okay though, I'm starting to realize that the furniture is going to take some time. And I'm fine with that.

+ trying not to go into a tailspin of emotion about the fact that Sebastian is going to be turning seven years old in a few short weeks. It's mind blowing to me. I can't even express the feelings that I feel. I've never been a person to say that I feel old but suddenly now that he's turning seven my age has been brought to my attention. I know, I know. I'm no where near being "old" and all and it's not really about that. It's simply the fact that my age as never even crossed my mind. Birthdays have come and gone and I've been content with it. Now that I'm going to be a mom to a seven year old, whoa, things have changed. I'm not even the slightest sure what I've just said even makes any sense. Either way, it's there. Oh you feelings.

+ constantly surprised with how overwhelming my industry can be. In a good way though. The hair industry is an amazingly creative outlet. There's so much to learn and create and achieve. It gets me so excited and I am still forever thankful that I have been able to pursue my dreams and jump head first right into it all. Not to mention that there are so many ridiculously talented people in my industry that I am regularly collecting inspiration from them. Not just within my salon but all over the world. Which brings me to social media! Holy. Cow. Am I so glad it's a tool for us to take advantage of. Otherwise I would not be able to be involved in all the great hair stylist's work out there!

+ excited to be living closer to my little sister, Michelle. I feel like she has really become my best friend in so many ways. It helps that she's matured tremendously! Boy does that help! I'm looking forward to making more memories with her.

+ trying to figure out a way so that I can do more blogging. I love blogging and can't imagine stopping or getting rid of it. It's just the time thing. Until we move and right now with the way I commute I do have loads of sporadic time to be able to write posts but it's hard to be able to carry my laptop around with me, since I do a lot of walking. It can get heavy! So, I'm hoping to maybe invest into an iPad with a keyboard. Does anyone else have this sort of problem? What do you do? Help. Me.

+ looking forward to a handful of weddings I'm going to be doing these last couple months of summer. A few of them are with Jennifer, my partner in crime at the salon and a couple that I'll be doing solo. Did you know that I absolutely love doing wedding hair and pretty much any up-do styling?! Well, I do. Can someone just land me a gig with a fashion magazine so that I could do editorial styling for all eternity. K thanks!

+ loving the new season of True Detective. Any one else out there totally hooked on it? Also the nerd in me has yet again become twisted up in the super natural world that is Teen Wolf. Oh no. Just me. I figured.

+ ready for scarfs, cardigans, pumpkin-y beverages, spending hours in the kitchen churning out baked goods without sweating profusely from every crevice of my body, and watching Hocus Pocus back to back to back. Yeah. I'm ready for that.

+ in need of the Amazon Echo. It shall be mine. I can already foresee Alexa becoming my sidekick in life. Oh the things we can achieve together!

+ finding it very stressful to have to break the news to our local coffee shop Cups that we are moving to the other side of the water. Wanda, the women who owns Cups is basically the sweetest lady in all the land. We are all on a first name basis and she knows are drinks. She gives hugs to Sebastian whenever we come in and I think she secretively gives him an extra scoop of ice cream when I'm not looking. The shop has become a huge part of our lives so I believe it's going to be the most missed thing in Poulsbo, other than my parents of course! Ugh. I'm already thinking about putting together a little basket to hand her as I quickly blurt out that we won't be regulars anymore. Tragic. It really is.

+ thankful for all the good people in my life. For my skinny boyfriend jeans that have nice gapping holes in them that keep me cool and that I seem to wear everyday lately. For my step-mom who is a very organized hoarder and who has stacks and stacks of big plastic containers that are so very helpful for packing our things in. I might forget to bring them back over the ferry. Thankful for the people I work with who keep the fire lit inside of me. Amen.

who i am

I AM...

... pretty sure I know what you're thinking... DAMN, her hair is long. Just kidding. But seriously, it's growing! It's so hard though. I struggle with it everyday. I have been making a point to document the process through photos. It's been pretty divided, some people believe I'll go all the way and grow it out and others, like my family, don't think I'll make it. Honestly, if I've made it this long I believe, no I know, I will! Most people ask how long I'm growing it out to and my answer, as long as I can. May the odds be ever in my favor!

... loving my new home, Zero Zero Hair on Capital Hill. It's an awesome salon and I feel like I've really bonded with all the talented stylist there. It's exciting for me to know that I have found a place that I can be myself and where I am surrounded by like-minded people in a city full of rad human beings.

...not ashamed to say that I recently saw the movie The Fault in Our Stars and cried like a baby or worse. It was the most I've ever cried during a movie and it wasn't pretty. I was curled up on the couch and couldn't help but bury myself under my blankets when the water works started happening so that I didn't alarm my family. Such a fantastic movie. So well made and I fell hardcore for Ansel Elgort. But really both him and Shanilene Woodley were perfect for the role. I couldn't stand how much I loved it so I went out and bought the book!

... a busy lady. I just did a fun photoshoot for the students at Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy in Seattle. Loved seeing familiar faces and loved being in a familiar place. The academy was such a huge part of my life and I can't help feel overjoying emotions whenever I go back. It was fun for me because I got to play a different role and instead of doing the hair I was behind the lens.
I'll be a part of two other photoshoot this month. Ones that I will be doing hair instead of behind the lens and those I am super excited about! One of them will be with my mentor from the salon and another with a dear friend of mine who is a photographer and ask me to style her models. Yay!

... happy for daylight savings. It's aways rough in the beginning because we all can't seem to go to bed at a decent time and then we're left wondering why it's so dark in the morning and can barely get up. It effects Sebastian the most. But we're all over it and enjoying the sun being out in the evening. Our windows are opening until the sun goes down and the house is filled with sweet notes of the early blooming flowers in the air. Love that!

... starting to really realize that my heart and soul belong in the city. Since working in downtown Seattle I've come to really enjoy walking the streets along side tall building, passing by all kinds of different people, and looking at all that there is to see. Not to mention the loads of people I am meeting since working in the city. Fun!

... appreciating the people who are in my life that take the time to believe in me and encourage me. It's such a good feeling to have a village of loved ones that care.

... dreaming of the day when we find that perfect house with a perfect kitchen, with a perfect sized garage and yard, and in a perfect school district. It's hard to find perfect but I'm thankful that we are in a situation where we can take our time in looking and have a chance to find our perfect. It's a tough market right now for buyers. We have found a few houses that were pretty close to being perfect but they slipped out of our fingers. I never would have thought it would be this much work! It's hard when you go view a home and fall in love with it to then get told that it sold two hours after we saw it. Crazy! But I know the perfect one will show itself to us. Hopefully soon because I'm impatient.

... so glad that I forced myself to start House Of Cards on Netflix. I was in a slump when it came to watching shows and it was a show that I had no intention to try watching. But I did and of course I'm at the point of binge-watching the hell out of it. Kevin Spacey is evil and I love it. Politics are not my jam and I will confess I've learned quite a few things from watching this show. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing! I'm just about to start season two. Have you seen it?

...learning a lot. In about a hundred million different ways.

...looking forward to a mini-vacation to Portland, Oregon during Sebastian's spring break from school. We're going to Airbnb it and have an adventure. I found the coolest house and I just know Sebastian is going to flip! I can hardly wait to explore a new place. If you have an recommendation of places to visit, places to eat and just over all things to share, please do!!

...thankful for all the inspiration that the world holds that is constantly opening my eyes to the fact that there is so much to live for. Thankful for music that keeps me focused, for all the brilliant people who write brilliant books. Thankful that we've been lucky with two Friday the 13th's! Boy oh boy! I love that luck! Thankful for a little sister who even though I don't get to see too often is starting to really get her life on track and I'm proud of her for it. Thankful for a healthy boy and a supportive husband! Amem.

who i am

+ I'm proud to announce that I have landed an internship with Zero Zero Hair on Capital Hill. I've been swooning over this salon for quite some time and after pursuing it with some persistence, it finally came true. I'm assisting a really talented human being for a couple months as well as learning and soaking up all that everyone at the salon emanates. The stylists within the salon are so diverse ranging in different ages, styles and personalities with both men & women. I'm so excited to grow as a stylist but what I'm most excited about is being on Capital Hill. So fun!

+ We're getting so close to buying our first home! I can taste it. It takes so very sweet. It's been one big headache with dealing with loans but I think we are getting very close. Next step is house hunting and finding our dream home. No pressure. Really though, I can't wait to have a place to call our own, where we can have nice things and make it our place. A place to invite friends over and so that I can cook for other people. One more milestone can be checked off of our list.

+ I recently signed up to be a volunteer at Sebastian school. This month I'm running the Science Club. I was pleasantly surprised when the school told me 22 kids signed up for my club. At first I was super excited and then a little panicky. 22 kids all by myself! Phew. But I did just fine for my first time and the kids loved the Lava Lamps we made. I had the kids ooooooing and aahhhhing and even heard a little girl say to her friends, this is so much cooler than baking club I did last year! I'm happy that I get to spend some time doing things with Sebastian and his peers.

+ I'm growing my hair out. I swear. It's happening and the struggle is real. I'm having a hard time with this awkward stage that I'm currently in. The pact that I've made with myself is still holding strong. My goal is to reach a bob length and then once I'm there I hope to have the strength to keep growing it. I would love to have hair past my shoulders. I know, I know I've got quite some time until that all comes true but a girl can dream!

+ Feeling really thankful for the people in my life. People who are constantly lifting me up and encouraging me. People who believe in my dreams and all things that I want in life. I am truly fortunate for these people and wouldn't be who I am in this moment if it weren't for them! Thank you. I will always cultivate the habit of being grateful.

+ Starting to live more in the moment and be more mindful that I can do anything but just not everything.

+ Oh & just be silly sometimes...

on who I am

I am...

... feeling nostalgic of the past couple week where I got to spend some real quality time with my little boy. I was hard for me to be away for so many hours during the time I was at school so while he was on winter break from school we did a lot of catching up. Mostly all the cuddling, movie watching, adventuring and talking we did, along with just the motherly things that mothers do really made my soul happy. Waking up in the morning to make him breakfast followed by snuggles on the couch to watch morning cartoons. It was all so very needed. Now that he's back to school I can't help but feel excited to put him on the bus in the morning and then greet him when he gets home to tell me all his stories of the day.

... excited for the next step in my journey as a hair stylist. For months I had a certain salon in mind and unfortunately it turned out not to be the right place for me. I wouldn't say I was disappointed, only because I've really come to terms with the fact that everything happens for a reason. I'm pretty proud of myself to be able to think this way at my age and that it comes easy for me. Honestly, I just don't have time for people, places or things that want to bring me down. Nor should I. Just this week I ventured onto the other side of the water into the great city of Seattle to hand out resumes and network with salons that I see myself calling home. It went really well! It really opened up my eyes to the fact that you really have to put yourself out there in this industry. Like really put yourself out there. In reality, it's basically like I'm selling myself to these salons. I mean, it's that way in general when you are job seeking but in the hair industry it's all talk and personality. Annnnnnyway, I handed out a stack of resumes and already had an interview with a salon that I can totally see myself working at even if it's not the place I'm dreaming of exactly. But we all have to start somewhere. Like Vincent Van Gogh once said "Great things are done by a series of small things brought together."

...having an extreme case of wanderlust. I've been dreaming of a trip to Portland, Oregon. It's calling to me.

...and have been nesting like a pregnant lady since I've been home. No joke. I've mostly done everything that can possibly be done. Organized, cleaned and done all that my OCD self could. It's come to the point where I have nothing in that regard to do. Usually I have a hard time sitting down to do anything leisurely until I've done something productive. It's the way I work. Otherwise, whatever I sit down to do I can't because I have this overwhelming gilt that I should be doing that other thing. You see, it's a problem. It's all to do with me being home. The struggle is real.

... thinking a lot about friendships lately. Lost friendship because of either distance or because of personal growth. Either way I can't help but think about where they are or who they are and that I hope they are happy. I crave for new friendships, new experiences and new traditions.

... anxious for all things I want to do in this life. It's exhausting, and at times depressing to think about all these things I want to do. Sometime I feel like I'm an alien. Do other people get overwhelmed by the thoughts in there head or get stressed with thinking that I might not get around to doing something that I absolutely would love to do, like write and publish a novel. Well, I'm an alien of my own mind. So there's that.

... dreaming of the day we buy our first home and all the feelings that will come along with it.

...loving this January blog wallpaper for your computers desktop. It's great, download it! This copper pipe hanging rack found on A Beautiful Mess. I've bookmarked it for future project for our future home. Loving my free 7 day trial of Oyster Books. I downloaded the app on my phone! I am loving my new planner and blog notebook I bought at Target. Let's just say a little hurrah! to all the greatness the Target brings to our lives. Amen.

who I am

I am...

...happy, exhausted  frustrated, overwhelmed, inspired and just about every emotion that is humanly possible. October is one of my favorite months and because there is so much going on this month it's been a roller coaster of emotions for me. It's ok though. It's actually a really good learning experience. In the past I've had a hard time with being able to juggle a million things at once without feeling unbearably overwhelmed. I always had a hard time asking for help or being able to put something aside and deal with it at another time. Being in school and doing everything else from the time I walk through the door of my home to the time I go to bed has really shaped me as mother and a wife. I'm proud of this!

...focusing on my next dream, goals & aspiration.

... thankful for my son. We went to a birthday party the other day and ended up having a horrible experience. I've never had such a strong feeling towards any sort of child like I did at this party when we met a boy that was a year older than Sebastian. The boy was awful! It pains me to even say that about a child but there's really no other words for it. I couldn't help but try to shield Sebastian for this boy's destructive mind. I was so sick to my stomach with everything this boy was doing. The parents weren't there, which was already really odd to me. I couldn't help but count down the minutes until cake and ice cream were done so we could leave. It was such a terrible experience! I can't help wonder what all the other parents were thinking because whatever I was thinking was seriously plastered on my face. It was a shame because the party was wonderful. I even went as far as having a conversation with Sebastian about how the boy was someone I wouldn't want him to play with. The best thing happened after that because Sebastian agreed with me. Thankful for my son and happy that he is starting to be aware of things around him.

...saddened when negative/hurtful things happen to loved ones. It's especially hard when you can't really do anything for them but be there. I guess that's all you can do somethings. I just worry that it's not enough.

...happy that my husband is finally starting on his little business venture. He's been talking about it for a while now but it's finally coming together for him. He got some decals put on our car and created business cards as well. Not to forget he got his first payment from a customer last week. So proud of him! I'm thrilled to see him so excited and passionate about something. Please support my husband and go "like" his facebook page and if you know of anyone that needs any performance tuning done on their cars, message my man!

...counting down the days until I head to up to Snoqualmie Casino for the Label.M 2014 show. Label.M is a London based hair care company. The artistic team will be showcasing their new collection and I'm going in hopes to be a part of it as well as network and try to get my foot into the door, so to speak. A girl can try, right?

...loving the blog/social media world. I've met so many encouraging people!

...currently obsessed with all that fall television has to offer. The Originals, Vampire Diaries, American Horror Story, Sons of Anarchy & Walking Dead. Or new shows that I will be tuning into like Constantine and Big Driver. I've even started watching (thanks to my dad and step-mom) The Voice, where I've fallen in love with Pharrell Williams and I of course have the biggest crush on Gwen.

...looking forward to Halloween/trick or treating, being done with State Boards and having the last month in school to take on as many clients as I can, book club night, the future, a much needed manicure, seeing my little sister's face tomorrow and peaceful mind.

who I am

I am...

...almost fully recovered from a crazy stomach bug or flu. My father was the first to get it in our house. He was down for the count for a little more than twenty-four hours. Then I was next a day later. I was happy that it came on after school Saturday so that I didn't miss any school hours. Unfortunately I had dropped Bobby off at the ferry, for he was heading to hang out with his friends for the rest of the weekend, before it hit hard so there I was dying on the couch on my own. I pretty much was running to the bathroom throwing up at least twice an hour. Yuck. But wait I didn't tell you the best part yet, around 12am Sebastian ran out of the bedroom throwing up at well. Yup. Climax of my weekend. So there we were on the couch together sharing the blue bucket I had out for us. Not fun. And I ended up calling Bobby telling him he had to come home because there as no way I could survive doing all that on my own. Poor guy did and was left out on fun with his friends. Love him for it though! Good thing that Sebastian's little episode only lasted those few early hours in the morning and he was golden. I'm happy to report that I'm feeling much better. Stomach is still out of whack but I was able to get out and take a stroll today. Progress.

...finally going to graduate to a Junior C at school tomorrow! This basically means that I'll be on the clinic floor all day taking clients. So far I've always have classes through out the day but now I get to just take as many clients as I can and LEARN + PRACTICE! This excites me beyond belief.

...loving the weather we have been experiences here in the Pacific Northwest. When the sun shines it really shines!

...gaining a lot of perspective on being patient. I've never had to be so patient as I am right now currently in my life. With school and almost being at my mid-way point, so close yet so far! With wanting a house and to be able to work in the perfect salon. Right now. Some days I just want to scream with frustration at the fact that everything is taking too long. I can't wait for that moment when everything well feel just right.

...thankful for my little sissy being back in my life. It's fun having her working at my school and seeing her each and every day. She's been helping me out a lot with picking me up at the ferry on Saturdays or any other days she can. She's awesome that way. We've always had our disagreements about this or that but I feel like right now in our lives we both are at the point were we see and know each other for who we are and except it. We roll with it and make the best of it. We laugh together. It's really the best feeling to have and knew she's always there for me.

...continuing to try to find a balance for everything. It's hard. Whine. With school, being a mother and wife, a blogger, a photographer and a hair stylist. Trying to fit everything in and still bake some goodies in the kitchen on the weekends. So much to do and so much to see. So little time it feels like. It can be very overwhelming but yet I still try not to let it get to me. It's something new I've been trying out...roll with it. Just roll with it.

...currently planning a tattoo with Bobby. A "together tattoo". It's what I like to call it. We discovered a pretty nice tattoo shop here in Poulsbo that's literally just down the street from where we live. I stumbled across it on Instagram when someone posted a certain tattoo they recently got and to my surprise it was from a local shop so very close to us.

...experiencing major wanderlust. After our anniversary getaway all I've wanted to do is get in the car and drive to some far off place that no ones been too. Ok that sounds like a a fairytale, but seriously I want to go places and it's very hard to be stuck. I always tell Bobby that at some point in our lives (in not so near future) I want to just pack a bag and travel. Go where ever we please and just be bums on the road searching for everything and nothing.

...somewhat obsessed with watermelon. Give me all the watermelon. Oh and crackers. All kinds. Amen.

...sad that a lot of my shows are starting to end. But excited that others are starting back up. Double edge sword,  I must say.

xoxo!

on who I am...

I am...

...missing my blog. I miss writing here and expressing here. Can you believe that just this past Friday was my FOUR YEAR blog birthday! But lately, life just hasn't allowed it as much as I wish. I've been spending my evenings going to the gym, writing bits and pieces in my book or just catching up on television shows. Either way I hope to get back to sharing. I have some great easy recipes to share and some fun smoothies to have you try.

...grateful for all of our family and friends who came out to my in laws to join in on our farewell party. It was nice to see so many people in one place. Good food, laughs and drinks of course all equal an epic evening! I even wore a special shirt that I bumped into at Marshals a few weeks ago that I just had to buy just to wear for the party. Leaving one coast for another. Bittersweet but in the end we love everyone for supporting us in our journey.

...realizing that tomorrow marks my last month of working at Saxbys Coffee. It's surreal to think about. I've worked there for almost five years now and it's become part of me. I've met so many amazing people and I will forever miss my co-workers and especially all the people I see on a day to day basis.

...learning that people come and people go. I feel like I gain a few new good people in my life and then grow apart from others. I've learned the last two weeks that even the people who are by rule suppose to be the closest to you can still grow apart from you with a blink of your eye. Sometimes you just have to let them go. Since Sebastian was born and my little family was created I've found myself fighting less and moving on more. We must always choose our battles and some of them are just not worth it. Life always goes on though.

...loving some of the new friends Bobby and I acquired at the wedding we went to a few weekends ago. We went to the wedding knowing that we really wouldn't know anyone other than the bride and groom. I wanted to make the most of it and ended up chatting with a couple at our table. It turns out the dude met the groom the same way Bobby met him and they hit it off and the chick he was with ended up being his fiancé which I became very friendly with. It was so fun! Next thing we know, we are inviting them to our farewell party and they are inviting us to their engagement party!! Love that sort of thing.

...excited about my dear friend, Julee's second book available on Amazon. She is such an inspiration and I'm so proud of her for accomplishing something that means so much to her. I can't wait to get my hands on it, make a cup of hot chocolate, cuddle up on the couch and get lost in a Christmas adventure. Check out Sandra Claus by JingleBelle Jackson. Love you JULEE!

...addicted to the Witches of East End. Coolest. Show.

...finding comfort in the little things. Snuggles with my little boy. The feeling I get when I see my husband looking at me with love in his eyes. Pandora speaking softly in my ears. A hot cup of tea. Freshly popped popcorn with a movie. Daydreaming of the future and what it holds. And all the people in my life who care about me and what I stand for, who constantly challenge me to be the best that I can be, who believe in me and for the people who appreciate me for me. Amen.

xoxo.

on who I am...

I am...

...no longer sure if I wish to drown myself in love, vodka or the sea.

...nonstop writing. HA! Yeah, not here as you can tell. It's been hard to juggle this place and my other love so this place has been neglected. Not to mention there's really not much newsworthy going on. Just busy, busy and more busy.

...starting to realize that I have a coffee mug addiction. I like coffee mugs not to forget the stuff you put in them but that's just silly, because you all know that. Over the years, at least the ones I've spent with Bobby, I've made it a habit to buy mugs wherever we go. I like being able to wake up in the morning, open my cupboard full of mugs and choose a mug. I'll pick up a mug and remember the memories of the place I got it at. Kind of cool. But really who am I kidding, I buy them anyways. Like the one that's pictured up top I got at Wegmans while we were grocery shopping. Now grocery shopping is always an adventure and it's sort of a mini date for Bobby and I but I really didn't buy it for the memory. I bought it because I couldn't put it back on the shelf. And I plan to buy all the colors that they have because they are stackable and I just can't get the thought of having a rainbow of mugs stacked on my countertop out of my mind. So there's that.

...trying not to let stress get to me. Lately I feel like things have been happening one after another. One stressful thing ends and another starts right back up. However, I'm super stubborn and would never let anything defeat me. So I guess that's a good thing, right?

...nearing my 25th birthday and I'm finding that I'm very excited about it. Don't ask me why because I don't know. I think it's because I know that my 25th year is going to be full of lots of beautiful things. We'll be moving and starting anew. I'll start to be able to make up for lost time with my family and friends. And I hope to be able to finally start on my dream. A dream, because that's all it's been for a long time now. Many things will happen and many more challenges will surface but I'm over the moon about it! Plus there's gifts. Boy oh boy!

...still in shock about Sebastian turning 5! Where has the time gone? We had a party for him last Saturday and it was a blast. We had it at a family fun center full of arcade games, a huge jungle gym, rides and go carts. He invited one of his best pals as well as his cousins. Sebastian was very spoiled with some wonderful gifts. Monday when we pulled up to school he got out of the car and motioned with his little hands at his body and said to me Mom, look, I'm a big kid. Before I melted into a puddle, I nodded and told him he is the biggest kid ever. He smiled and walked off. It's all just so amazing.

...growing my hair back out. Need a change. It's at this weird in-between stage that is driving me crazy. I almost feel like I want to grow it out as long as I can from now until I start hair school just so I can do something off the wall crazy to it when I finally start school. What do you think? Yeah. That sounds about right.

...currently putting hot sauce on everything I eat. What's up with that? I don't know but I do know I want everything I eat super spicy all the time. It's weird.

...giddy about an early birthday present that I bought myself.

...finding comfort in the evening hours. I've never been a night owl. That's always been a difference between Bobby and I. He could always stay up into the wee hours of the night were as I just could bring myself to do it. And then on the other hand I'm the ultimate morning person and he is the worst. I've always tried to help him become a better morning person and he would always try to coax me to stay up later to watch one more movie. Now, I don't really know the cause of it but I've become quite a night owl. I can stay up in the wee hours of the night and still be alright and I find comfort in it. Oh, you thought I was going to say Bobby was now magically a morning person. Umm. No that will never happen. And if it does I'm sure the world world will end.

...gaining a lot of perspective on all the different kinds of people in this world. The more time I spend on this Earth the more knowledge I gain about who people are and why they do the things they do. Recently my eyes were opened to how power/money hungry people can be and usually they hide it really well. They say that they care about what they do but their words don't seem to match their actions. These people need to be taught lessons. I wish I could be that person to knock some sense into them. Hey, a girl can dream!

...thankful for this life I live and always looking forward. That's all you can do.

xoxo.

on who I am...

I am...

...glad to be back to writing and sharing. I was forced to take my MacBook back to BestBuy to get some work done to it. I always hate having to do it because it seems to take a few weeks. I've been using Bobby's IPad, which by the way, is so not the same as my laptop. I missed it dearly and hoping I won't have to go through this sort of withdrawal for a long long time. I'm back!

...tired of this heat here in Philadelphia. It's not even so much the heat but the humidity. It's killer and really hard to enjoy the summer. I'm trying my best not to complain about it too much but it's so hard!

...excited for a trip up to the Pocono Mountains tomorrow. We are heading up for a shindig that Bobby's cousin is hosting at her boyfriend's house. It will be a great time and I'm pretty happy to be able to say that I've been to the Pocono's before we move back to Seattle. We are actually planning on having a little camp out! Pitching a tent and sleeping over for the night. I would choose going to the woodsy mountains over going to the beach any day.

...kind of freaking out that in just one months time my little boy is going to be turning five years old! Mind blown. I cannot believe it. In this year alone Sebastian has come so far and I'm really looking forward to him growing and learning in the next year. I'll be doing everything I can to get him prepped for Kindergarten, which is just plain 'ol scary to think about! I always find myself give Sebastian one of those, "Are you for real?" looks. I still can't believe I have this little being who looks up at me with his big brown eyes and says mom. All I know is that I will savor every minute of this time that I have with him. Teetering in between him being old enough to do so much on his own and then yet still needing me for so much more.
He's an exhausting fellow but he's also my best friend. And it's going to stay that way for all my days.

...scared, nervous, guilty, staying strong and so many more emotions when I think about my father going under surgery next week. Put under a knife and cut open. I pray to universe that everything will go as planned. I don't want to think about anything but positive thoughts. There's really no sense. I'm so close to finally being back home to spend time with the first ever man that I've ever loved. My dad means the world to me, more than I think I would of ever imagined. In the end, I am so very proud of my dad and the fact that he is putting his health first. That hasn't been something that he's done in the past. Everything else came first.
I am blessed to have a wonderful step-mom who has been there for my dad in so many ways. She is a smart, sensitive and a supportive wife to my father which puts my soul at ease at times like these.

...shamelessly done with all four season of the new 90210 television series on Netflix. As much as it pains me to admit that I've fallen in love with all the characters and their stories, well I have and I don't care what you think. It happened and that's that. As far as the television goes I haven't really been watching much only because there's nothing ON! Ok that's not entirely true. I've been hooked on True Blood (surprised?), Teen Wolf (so freaking good!) and Under the Dome. Under the Dome is new and so I've only seen one episode but I have the highest of hopes. Come on, it's Stephen King for gods sake! Also I'm still keeping up on Defiance which is okay. Anyone have any recommendation?

...becoming somewhat of a night owl as of late! Exclamation mark because that's never been the case. It actually really excites me. I have always been one to go to bed early. I get up early and go to bed early. Lately though I'll stay up doing things and when I get around to looking at the clock it's like whoa! It's that late? Cool.

...such a listy list maker. I have a note book full of lists and many notes to even keep those lists organized. I have a tough time with not making lists. Sometimes I wonder what others think of all my notebooks full of lists...

...thankful for all the people in my life. And for that matter, all the people who I chose not to include in my life. I strongly believe in karma and in the end I do what I think is best for me and my family. I am constantly thinking about the future and the people that will be in it, some I know for sure will be there no matter what and some I know I will never let back in for good reasons. I'm thankful for my free strong mind and all those who rally around me. Hurray for my pack!

xoxo.

on who I am...

I am...

...distracted. Julee wrote a great post on how powerful silence can be, I agree with everything she points out. However, silence on my blog means I've been distracted and or busy. Sometimes the days go by so quickly that I have a hard time catching up with them. Lately, I've been caught up in some really good books and so my little space here has been brushed to the side. Not only that but I've been excitedly working on a new project. An idea that I've always known I would make happen. Something that I just happened to start on because of an unexpected burst of inspiration. Hoping I can share what I'm up to soon but as of right now it's much to early. Only a select few have been involved, one being my husband, who is pretty cool with listening to me go on and on for hours about it.

...discouraged by this heat wave we have here in Philadelphia. Sweet Mercy! It's in the 90s and I can't deal. It's much too hot and as much as I am happy that the weather is finally looking bright and sunny it's just too hot to do anything but sit in an air conditioned house. Philadelphia summers are not my favorite mostly because of the humidity we get here and if it weren't for my in laws who have a pool we would most likely never leave the house. That being said, can't wait for Sebastian first time in the pool this season, he is looking forward to it.

...giddy about ordering a new Epiphanie camera bag, one that I've been eyeing up for quite some time. I took the plunge. I already have a different camera bag that I've kind of grown out of so I thought it was time to change things up. It will be great to use when traveling which will come in handy in the near future plus it's super cute! Win! Also totally and utterly in love with my new prescription sunglasses that I purchased from Bon Look. Great stylish prescription eye wear at a ridiculously affordable price.

...finding that whenever I get stressed or overwhelmed all I have to do is remember how blessed I am and then it all just goes away. Perspective is the best medicine I could ever ask for lately!

...feeling lucky to have such a kick ass husband. I know it sounds corny but needless to say he is just what I need. I never would have ever thought I could find someone that fits as well as he does. We are nowhere near perfect, we bicker like we've been married for a trillion years, and he squirms around way too much in bed which keeps me up at night but he's sweet and gentle were as I am rough and matter-of-fact. He eats whatever I cook for him without a side-eye in sight and listens to me talk about all my crazy far fetched hopes, dreams and ideas of everything that I want in this life. He simply tells me to reach for them and never give up. That's why I love him.

...currently obsessed with low-high shirts and high-waisted shorts, which I can never wear because COME ON, just look at me! Hold me.

...shamelessly overly depressed about all my television shows being over for now. All these season finales KILL ME. However, I'm eager for all them to start back up as well as all these fabulous new shows starting this Fall. But that's a post on it's own. So there's that.

I am happy.

on who I am...

I am...

...trying to get back into the swing of things over here. Not sure why I haven't been around as of late. I have a folder full of photos and recipes to share while I've been absent so it's not like I've been slaking too much. Right?

...still sad about losing our cat just the other day. It's been kind of eerie in the house since then. No cat pitter pattering around or always underneath my feet. You don't really understand how much pets can be part of your every day. Our cat wasn't the best sort of cat out there. She wasn't the cuddling type and she rarely let us pet her. She was just there. She got sick a few weeks back and we thought it was under control since it seemed like antibiotics were helping, but then she just stopped eating and that's ultimately what ruined her. We tried our best and that's what matters. Bobby had a pretty hard time with it because all along he's been a bit more attached to the cat then I was. Sebastian surprised me with how much he understood. We tried to treat the situation delicately until Sebastian goes to say Kitty cat is dying. Like whoa! The kid is like his mother in more ways than not. Straight to the point. He was content with it with a little sadness in his voice but out of all of us he's moved on the fastest.

...excited about something splendid happening in just 42 days. Yes, I have a count down because that's how excited I am about this! I can't really say what it might be so you'll just have to wait and see. Many of my friends and some family know which helps.

... loving Sebastian's age right now. He is feeling more like a tiny side-kick. When it's just me and him we always think of things to go do together. We'll go to the pet store and just walk aimlessly around looking at all the animals and fish. Sebastian is very keen to detail so it's fun to see what sort of things he picks out or shows me. We'll spend hours at the playground. I'll sit and read while he makes all kinds of friends. The other day he made a friend the same age as him (which is seldom since he always has a way of kicking it with an older crew) who had the hardest time keeping up with Sebastian. The other boy's father thought it was quite amusing, were as I just shrugged since really who are you kidding dude, my kid is fast as hell.

...happy for my little herb garden that I finished planting last weekend. My mint stayed year round so that was interesting. It will be so nice to step outside to pick fresh herbs when cooking dinner. Love that!

...thinking it's pretty cool how much people are looking forward to us moving back home. I got so many heart warming comments. We even have had a few people already ask us to visit them over dinner. It's so exciting and stressful all at the same time. Bobby and I are already looking into moving companies. We aren't sure whether we are going to go with a moving box that's shipped or if we using a moving truck that Bobby will drive. There's so much to figure out and plan but we'll doing a little over time, which is the best way. However, I'm thankful for my family who are letting us bunk with them for a little while. Huge help!

...amazed by how many people from high school I have connected with via Facebook or Instagram. People who you wouldn't of found me "hanging out" with in high school or even really having any sort of conversation with. My 16 year old self would have never imagined that a "popular" chick would be commenting me on how they love my style or discussing how fast our children are growing. Yeah, certainly not! It really goes to show you have much we all grow in the years that have past. Change is such a great thing and I love to think how we can all find similar grounds and relate to one another. It's sort of a beautiful thing!

...slightly obsessed with Pinterest lately. I know! It comes in spurts. I'll go months without pinning a single thing and then start it back up again. It can be a huge inspiration. Do you pin? If you do, add me!

...over-the-moon about the weather warming up. Although it's a double-edged sword because honestly I can't bare the thought of having to give up all my lovely cardigans buuuutt I still squirm in delight. Though, I know Summer will be here before we know it and I'll be wishing for Fall. So, there's that.

....feeling more myself these days. My favorite thing lately is getting lost in a book and staying up late watching random movies on Netflix.

...thankful for the wonderful people in my life who are generous, supportive and kind. Thankful for a husband who is patient and loving. A son who keeps me on my toes and repeatedly reminds me of how precious life is. I'm thankful for Pho and all that joy it bring me and my tummy. And thankful for this life we have, live it doing everything that you love!

on who I am...

I am...

...back to BLONDE! Hurrah. I had my hair dark for a good part of the Winter and with Spring being just around the corner I was in the mood to brighten things up. If you asked my 16 year old self If I would ever be blonde she would probably screamed profanities and flip you off. Good thing you didn't ask her. Huh? But anyways I am loving being back to this color and I can't be any more happier with my cut. There's nothing like the feeling you get with a new cut. Zing!

... feeling homesick. I can't help getting choked up thinking about some of the people that I love most who are just so far away. Lately, there's nothing I wouldn't give to me able to get a hug from my dad or lie awake with my sister and just talk about everything and nothing or take a pie making class with my best girls. I try my best not to let it get me to sad but really, who am I kidding? It's sucks!

...so amazed how people tend to hurt the ones that love them the most. Why is that? I'm seeing it happen to someone that I hold so dear to my heart. Someone that only deserves the best yet always has the worst luck. Worst of all is being in the middle of it and not really being able to do anything about it. I've always been the type of person that is very upfront and forward about situations and will look them right in the eye and then I try to fix it whether it has to do with me or not. I've been better at realizing that I can't fix everything but most the time I have to try. Sometimes I just have the urge to go up, grab them by the shoulders, shake them and scream in their face WHAT ARE YOU DOING? No, I've never actually done this...yet. All I can do is support and hope that some growing up happens and for a bright shinny light bulb to goes off. Love and respect your loved ones, man. All they want is what's best for you. The sooner you realize that the sooner you can start living.

...always pondering my outlook on parenting. It's seriously something that I'll just sit and think about. I always try to think about what I would do. Most the time I know that I wouldn't really know what I would do until it actually happens. Parenting is such a complex thing. You don't truly understand until you start to have to really parent. Recently,  we made the decision that we are going to hold Sebastian back a year. He'll be turning five in July so technically he could be able to start kindergarten in September. However, with his speech delay we just thought another year would benefit him way more. Although, I have absolutely no doubt that our decision is the right one there's always that thought in the back of my mind I hope I'm doing the right thing. It can be daunting some times, at least for me, knowing that this little child counts on your choices. Doesn't matter though because I'm confident in what the future holds and all I can do is my best. Really, that's all we can do.

...on French Press number TWO. Knocked over and broke my first one. It scattered into pieces and so did my soul. No really. Of course, I got right on my computer and ordered an new one. You would think I'd learn my lesson and pay a little extra to buy one that is stainless steel so that it wouldn't have the misfortune of braking again. But no. I just bought the same exact one. I'm a sucker for the fun green color and love how it matches some of the other things in my kitchen. Have you tried French Press? I think Bodum should pay me commission for the amount of French Presses I've sold for them. I just talked another person into buying one last week!

...feeling like I can't have too many maxi skirts in my life right now. I swear they are my favorite. I want all kinds of colors and patterns. Gimme gimme.

...currently reading Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. The same author of Gone Girl that has been all the hype. I know for a fact that everyone says Gone Girl was an amazing book and I do intend to pick that up one of these days but for sake of being different I decided to try one of Gillian's other books. After reading the synopsis I was like yep, my kind of book fool.  That's exactly what was said in my head. Anyways, it's about a girl Libby who was the soul survivor of the “The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas", well except for her fifteen year old brother who was the one who did the killing. Sooo yeah, there's that. This is my first book by Gillian Flynn and I am seriously in love with the writing. It's dark, weird and a thriller mystery. Have you read any of her books?

...giddy about Breaking Dawn Part 2 finally coming out on DVD. Naturally I already pre-ordered it and with that I'll be receiving a kick ass bracelet. Bet ya'll are seething with jealousy. Part 2 was my favorite movie out of all of them. I was on the edge of my seat and when movies have me gasping for air well, that's a great movie.

...thankful for a husband who knows when I need a little more cheering up than usual it's caa-razy how our spouses know us the best, a child who is constantly filling me with overwhelming love and is teaching me things all the time, Trader Joe's for filling my chocolate covered espresso bean dream (and no I won't share in case you are wondering, I know that I'm mean), and a happy simple life.

I am ending with this quotes from the book Under the Never Sky... "Love is like the sea, gentle and good sometimes, rough and terrible at others, but it's endless and stronger than the sky and the earth and everything in between".

xoxo.

on who I am...

I am...

...a brunette. I decided to go dark for the fall and winter months. I am in utter love yet again for my rich deep cherry brown hair! Hurrah.

...feeling a bit behind on sharing things here and over all behind on everything. It's funny because in reality I'm not really that behind on anything but it just feel like it. You know? Either way I'm determined.

...drum roll please, taking a trip back home to Seattle in a couple weeks. It was an all-of-a-sudden thing that happened and I'm happy it did. I have some really wonderful people in my life who have gifted me with so many blissful things that I can't but be forever grateful for who they are and what they bring to my life.

...pretty fed up with this ridiculous weather we have going on in Philadelphia. Hot. Cold. Hot. Cold. Just make up your mind. No wonder I can't shake this nasty cold, because Mother Nature is playing games.

...sad to lose one very important person at work. She is moving on to bigger and better things, although what's better than working with me? She has been at my little coffee shop since the beginning and it has been hard. But you know what, you have to let them go. Let them spread their wings and fly away. She is pretty much my bff around here so all is well and the best part is she still works a skip and a step away which makes all this better (sort of).

...excited that it's October. Have you put up your Halloween decorations yet? I'll be doing it this weekend. It's basically the only holiday I really decorated for.

...adoring some new shows on the television. Revolution was one that I wasn't anticipation on watching yet I caught the first episode and fell in love. The only reason it caught my eye is Bella's dad (Billy Burke) from Twilight is one of the main characters. I know, a super nerd thing. Also hooked on 666 Park Avenue and there's only been one episode so far! Gahhh. I am dying for next week for that is when all my favorite shows will be back in my life. Plus Glee is awesome. Okay enough of that because everyone knows I can just go on and on.

...telling you that you must go see Hotel Transylvania. Best kiddie movie EVER. Sebastian loved it and has been nagging me to go see it again! Super funny for all ages. The movie brought laughter to the theater non-stop.

...lucky to have such a loving and supportive husband, for a healthy and thriving son, for people that believe in me, for pumpkin spice everything, for all the small things that keep life happy. And most of all I am beyond thankful for this place to share, create and be myself all the live long day :) Thanks.

xoxo.

on who I am...

I am...

...the same person but looking slightly different these days. Obviously I chopped a good chunk of my hair off. Short hair and loving it! And let's not forget my lovely new spectacles. Change it good and that's why I do it often. Oh and I'm a bit obsessed with shinny red lips!

...hoping to get back to using my Canon. Ever since I got my Iphone I've neglected my poor baby camera and have been using my Iphone for everything! I swear I have over a thousand photos on my phone already. Sheesh.

...finally feeling a bit more myself these past couple of days. After having some really crazy hectic weeks it's been hard to just be me. Although my next couple of weeks is going to be that much busier with working some overtime and trying to fit in extra projects, but none the less it's a kind of busy that I enjoy.

...at complete peace on rainy days. Mostly because it reminds me of home. But also because I adore sitting on the couch with my boys, reading a book with a hot cup of tea in my palms and my body under a warm blanket. I crave for more days like that.

...also already looking forward to Fall. Cooler weather in turn means more baking in my kitchen! I do the least baking in the Summer months due to our apartment over heating. With only one air conditioner that basically has to be running all day on really hot days to manage making it cool enough for us to sleep in our bedrooms. Bummer I know but it's a small price we have to pay. Hoodie and scarf weather, I am ready for you!!

...coming to realize that there are people in my life that I am in need to just take a step back from in order to stay sane. I'm a huge believer in you being the one to create your own path in life. There's too much whining going on around me and quite frankly I'm sick and tired of hearing it and tired of people trying to bring me down because they are miserable with themselves. Do you know what I'm talking about people? From now on I'm dealing with my life, my future and my little family. Amen.

...dizzy with excited about some new-found friendships!

...currently obsessed with a new set of bed sheets that I bought from Walmart. Of all places! I had no idea they have a Better Homes line of bedding and sheets and other things. These lovely floral sheets caught my eye and I just couldn't part with them. Plus it was only thirty bucks. How's that for a kick in the pants?! Love fun little discoveries like that.

...thinking it's hilarious that after I told my 19 year old sister that I listen to the following bands: Silversun Pickups, Passion Pit, Geographer, The Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men, and Imagine Dragon. She called me a hipster...The End.

on who I am...

I am..

...sorry that I've been neglecting my little place here. We have no internet at home yet again and we are in the process of getting services soon. Until then my posts will be scattered.

...loving this photo of Sebastian and I. Classic us together. I love this kid to death and with his birthday almost a week away I am all kinds of weepy about just the thought of him turning four-years-old. Tear. Speaking of his birthday, since it falls right on a Sunday we are having a low key family party. But the cool part is that the place is going to be deck out in Legos! He is in a craze over Legos. Lego Batman. Lego this, Lego that. So I am making a fun Lego cake and a Lego pinata!

...counting down the days until I hop on a bus to NYC to meet up with my favorite gals, Tanya and Julee. Julee and I will be present at the BlogHer conference and I'm super excited about that! Are any of you going? I hope to meet a heap of new people and maybe even get to meet some of my favorite bloggers out there! It's my first time and I'm a wee bit nervous but all that will drift away once I am with the lovely Julee :) Hope to see you all there.

...re-reading Discovery of Witches. I thought it was going to be a quick skimming of the book but alas I am enjoying reading it over again. Hoping to start Shadow of Night this weekend. Before that I read Divergent and Insurgent. Great books! I tell you more soon.

...consumed by Sebastian's future lately. Being a parent to a child that has a speech delay can be tough and challenging in it's own ways. Come September there are going to be lots of changes in Sebastian academic schedule and the thought, am I doing the right thing? is constantly on my mind. I am taking every ones advice and going with what I feel is right for my kid and in the end doing my best. It's all I can do. So with all that I am hoping to relax a little bit this weekend and get some of this tension off my shoulders. What I really need is a massage! Welp!

...already missing my husband who left for Virginia yesterday to visit a friend. Me being the worrier that I am was up until I got the text that he had arrive (a midnight). They will be heading to North Carolina today where his friend will be racing his Mustang which is supposedly fast..whoop dee doo. He'll have fun and I'll be missing him.

...getting a fresh new hair cut on Tuesday. It shall be an adventure and I'll be coming out of the salon looking like a new person. Cutting it all off and I am really looking forward to an easy summer do. Hair cuts are always the best!

...sad about the Colorado movie shooting. It breaks my heart. All those people are in my thoughts.

...starting to feel great with all the exercise that I've been doing. I've made it mandatory to hit the gym at least twice a week which doesn't sound like much but with my busy schedule it's actually amazing. I used to exercise a lot before Sebastian was born and now that I am finally getting back to it, it's makes my body sing with happiness.

...grateful for a husband who continues to work hard and even though we aren't perfect we thrive for a happy life, a son who brings me the biggest joy in my life and family & friends that are always there to help. Oh and I'm thankful for this Chai Tea Latte that is keeping me company and the fact that it's Friday. Amen!
